I went into college with my heart set on being a graphic design major. I spent my freshman year in studio classes that I dreaded despite learning about different art forms. I was trekking through the classes telling myself that it would be worth it when I could sign up for graphic design courses in the future. I was crushed when I found out I didn't make it to the interview round of the application process because I was so heart set on the idea of being a graphic designer. It took some time, but I later realized that your major doesn't limit you to what you can become. As I explored my other options, I was introduced to Interactive Media Studies. Second semester of my sophomore year I started the IMS major, a little late in the game, but eager to try a new path. Soon to follow, I paired my IMS major with a graphic design minor. Now that I have found my niche, I haven't looked back, only forward. I love the courses I have taken and look forward to the career opportunities I hope to have in the future. |
